PASSION THE WAY TO FULFILLMENT

By Patricia Bebia Mawa

What are you passionate about? This is a question everyone should be able to answer at some point in their lives. If you feel unfulfilled and unenthusiastic about your work, or unhappy about going to work, it is obvious that you are not passionate about it. It is as important as finding the reason you are on earth. When you find your passion, it unlocks the door of success and purpose. It unleashes your God-given potentials. Here are some suggestions on how you can discover your passion.

5 Ways to Find your Passion

1. Explore

It has been said that the taste of the pudding is in the eating. The best way to discover what you are passionate about is to do it. The way it makes you feel and the joy it brings to your life gives you an indication that you are on the right path. Engage in volunteer work, read, network, give and ask questions. In doing, you will find out more about yourself, what you hate, what you love, what your talents are and what you love to do. Note down activities and things that make you feel energized.

2. Observe

To discover your passion, you have take note and take stock. Examine yourself and look out for things that excite you. Do not overlook things that you hate, as your passion may lie in fixing something that you consider wrong, unpleasant, inhuman or unfair. Observe your reaction to things, people and circumstances. Get to know yourself better and find out what makes you happy and energetic, as well as what drains you.

3. Dream

Dream, for your passion may lie in your dream. Your passion is lurking somewhere between the desires of your heart and your talent. Who do you dream of becoming? What is your secret wish? Note that lust may look like a dream. Give yourself the freedom to think about who you would like to become, if you had no challenges or inhibitions. Who are your heroes and why? What do you desire and why. Your passion may become apparent as you answer these questions.

4. Think

Take a trip down memory lane. Remember that thing that sparked a feeling that made you think you could conquer the world. Think about your past and the things that made the biggest impact in your life; both negative and positive. Think of your childhood and write down the things that you wish you did not have to do and things that came naturally to you. Think about what you admire in the people you love and what you hate in the people you dislike. Do not be afraid to think about your insecurities. Keep thinking until it makes sense.

5. Believe

The one thing that deters people from finding or living their passion is fear. People are often afraid of how the bills will be paid, what people will say, their competence and above all, the outcome of change. The road to success is not always laced with honey. You sometimes have to find the honey by overcoming the bees. If you are stung, don’t worry; the honey is still there. Start the process of discovering and doing what you love. Believe in the possibility of success and find a way to get there. Remember that whatever your passion is, it can make the world a better place.
