QUEEN’S DIAMOND JUBILEE MEDALS

Presented At Destiny Magazine Launch




His Worship Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Bishop Audley James, Dr. Charles Mantey, Roberto Hausman and other dignitaries graced the launch of Destiny Magazine, where Moses A. Mawa, Chairman and CEO of Silvertrust Media as well as Patricia Bebia Mawa, President & Editorial Director of Planet Africa Group, received Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals for their impact in Canada and internationally. 

The medal ceremony took place at the Silvertrust studio, which houses its Destiny, Diversity and Planet Africa brands as well as the Crossover Mentorship Program. Destiny is a Kingdom Lifestyle Magazine, published quarterly to enable individuals, businesses, ministries and others to reach their full potential, based on Christian principles and precepts. It is distributed through local churches, bookstores, educational institutions, businesses, senior’s homes, hospitals, shelters, prisons and others, with the subscription support of partners.

“The Diamond Jubilee Medals, presented to Patricia and Moses Mawa, who are behind Silvertrust Media and its subsidiaries, mark the 60th anniversary of  Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of England and Canada’s Head of State,” says His Worship Frank Scarpitti, Mayor of Markham. “It is divine that we are honoured with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medals at the launch of Destiny,” says Moses A. Mawa, who founded Silvertrust Media, also known as Silvertrust Communications, as a student in 1996.

“My husband and I are delighted to receive this honour, administered by the Mayor on behalf of the Governor General, Commander-In-Chief and Representative of the Queen in Canada, His Excellency David Johnston, as these medals affirm our resolve to make a difference in society,” says Patricia Bebia Mawa. Bishop Audley James of Revivaltimes Tabernacle, who exhorted the principal message said, “The commitment of Patricia and Moses to service with excellence is worthy of recognition and emulation.”  

The premiere issue of Destiny Magazine has Isaac Olowolafe, CEO of Dream Maker Corporation, on the cover. At just 29, Isaac’s company has conducted over half a billion dollars in real estate transactions. He is now developing Dream Yorkdale, his first condominium complex. This issue has messages from John Maxwell and on Joel Osteen, the 2012 Destiny Summit on Excellence as well as on leadership, faith, the Christian journey, resources, collaboration, profiles, testimonies and much more.

Moses is also the publisher of Diversity, which is in blue boxes in the region; Planet Africa, which is in Chapters and Indigo bookshops; and is Executive Producer of Arise, Planet Africa, Visionaries, Luminaries and other TV programs. He holds a B.A. in Film Studies from Carleton University and has been commissioned by the Government of Ontario, Rogers Media and others to produce communications products. He has received the Toronto Police “Excellence in Community Service Award”, the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada Award for “Professional Excellence” as well as the BBPA Harry Jerome Media Award.

Patricia Bebia Mawa is the President of Planet Africa Group, a division of Silvertrust Media. She is the Editorial Director of Planet Africa Magazine; Host & Producer of Planet Africa Television on OMNI TV as well as syndicated to Europe and Africa. She has served as a lead producer of Arise on Vision TV, the Visionaries and Luminaries series, the “Routes of Freedom” documentary and “Harambee: Pulling Together”. She holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Calabar and a Multimedia diploma from Algonquin College of Science and Technology. She is the recipient of the 2013 Martin Luther King, Jr. DreamKEEPER Award.
