CNN PROFILES VISIONARY TORONTO COUPLE
PATRICIA & MOSES A. MAWA

Patricia and Moses A. Mawa have been recognized in Canada for their commitment to transforming lives using media and special events. It is no surprise that their work has attracted international attention. CNN, a world leader in delivering breaking news from across the globe and information on the latest top stories, business, sports and entertainment headlines, featured a half hour special on the duo they are calling, 'the power couple'.

The CNN crew travelled from their global headquarters in Atlanta to interview Patricia and Moses at their studio in Toronto and their residence in Richmond Hill. The studio houses Silvertrust Media's Destiny, Diversity and Planet Africa brands, as well as the Crossover Mentorship Program. "When we got the message that CNN was interested in featuring us, we were humbled. This shows that when you are focused on making a difference without looking for gain or fame, God sees and honours you," says Patricia BebiaMawa.

The CNN feature captures the story of the Mawas and how they rose from humble beginnings to running a media company that includes television shows aired internationally and the publishing of over 20 magazine titles in their Discover series. These include magazines for nations, businesses and organizations.

"We share this moment with all of the wonderful people who have worked with us to build this dream that is aimed at empowering and transforming lives," says Moses A. Mawa. Moses is also the publisher of Diversity Magazine, which is in blue boxes in the Toronto region; Destiny Magazine, distributed via Churches and Christian book stores; Planet Africa, which is in Chapters and Indigo bookshops across Canada, select stores in the US, Africa and other parts of the world; and is Executive Producer of Arise, Planet Africa, Visionaries, Luminaries and other TV programs.

Moses holds a B.A. in Film Studies from Carleton University and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Leadership at Trinity Western University. He has been commissioned by the Government of Ontario, Rogers Media and others to produce various communications products. He has received the Toronto Police "Excellence in Community Service Award", the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada Award for "Professional Excellence" as well as the BBPA Harry Jerome Media Award. Moses and Patricia received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals in March 2013.

Patricia is the President of Planet Africa Group, a division of Silvertrust Media. She is the Editorial Director of Planet Africa Magazine and the host and producer of Planet Africa Television, which is on OMNI TV and is syndicated to Europe and Africa. She has served as a lead producer of Arise on Vision TV, the Visionaries and Luminaries series, the "Routes of Freedom" documentary and "Harambee: Pulling Together".

Patricia holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Calabar and a Multimedia diploma from Algonquin College of Science and Technology. She is the recipient of the 2013 Martin Luther King Jr. DreamKEEPER Award and an International Women Achievers Award. The couple is blessed with three lovely children.

The Mawas have overcome many challenges, but believe that what is important is finding one's purpose, pursuing excellence and trusting God. Moses came to Canada with $20 in his pocket, but had a vision to make a difference. The couple lived in their car after their wedding, but invested in an office space that would one day make an impact internationally. They are just getting started with their transformational work, as much is yet to be done. They believe that the best of their impact is yet to come.
